Individual Coaching

This is the result of a GPM (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Projektmanagement e.V.) study from 2008.

As project manager you have significant influence on all of the stated factors. You have the overall responsibility and a key role in the entire system. You should always have a clear understanding of the project target and the stakeholders involved, be close to the project team, communicating regularly and effectively.

Project Coaching strengthens your abilities to achieve the best possible results. Besides considering technical aspects at all times, you need an eye for the vague and ambiguous matters, you reflect on your own position and situation in the project and are able to discuss all relevant topics with a neutral partner.

 

Possible applications:

  • Taking over a new position (to manage complexity, clarify your own role, understand and meet stakeholder requirements)
  • In critical situations (to search for alternatives caused by delays in schedule, lack of resources, conflict of interest)
  • In situations of learning and change (to review project target, support change, form and lead virtual teams)

Individual Coaching is beneficial as personal professional development but can also take place during the ongoing project activities.
